Design, Create, Charm

A DIY Jewelry Workshop with Paulina Otero

Join us for a special afternoon at Paulina Otero studio located in the West Bottoms. We're excited to offer a hands-on jewelry workshop focused on personalizing your pieces using over 40 unique charms. Local artist and designer, Paulina Otero will guide you through the process, and your ticket includes all materials needed to make your custom creation. No prior experience is required, and additional charms will be available for purchase.

This event is part of Kansas City Design Week and features the work of Paulina Otero, a talented Mexican artist whose jewelry and tufted wall hangings abstractly represent her experiences in Mexico. Drawing inspiration from Mexican architecture, nature, and traditional textiles, Paulina’s pieces highlight the beauty of color, form, and texture. Her designs resonate with the theme of home and personal connection, and this workshop offers a perfect opportunity to reflect those same elements into your own jewelry. Celebrate creativity and craftsmanship with us as part of KC’s vibrant design community!

Paulina Otero

Paulina Otero is a Mexican artist who focuses on making statement jewelry, accessories and art objects that are abstract representations of her experiences in her home country, Mexico. She references home by using bold colors, symbolisms and textures inspired by architecture, archeology, nature and traditional textiles.

Paulina has a major interest in combining industrial and domestic materials such as yarn, felt, wood, and plexiglass to inspire a desire to touch. By combining all of these elements she expresses her feelings of nostalgia and admiration towards her culture. Her materials exploration is constantly evolving as she learns new techniques.

Paulina has exhibited her work in places like the St. Louis Art Guild, The Yeiser Art Center, and The Appalachian Center of Craft. She has also developed a jewelry brand that has been sold in local venues such as The Kemper Museum, Duet, Madewell, Dear Society and many other Indie craft fairs such as Renegade and West Coast Craft.
