Tap Into the Vine Street Brewing Branding

Join us at Vine Street Brewing, Kansas City’s first black owned brewery to learn more about the ideation and creation of Vine Street Brewing. We will be focusing on the branding from Matt Wegerer, Owner and Creative Director at Whiskey Design, and how he worked with Kemet Coleman, Founder of Vine Street Brewing, and team to find inspiration in music and flavor to create the brand. 

During the presentation, attendees will enjoy a flight of beers, brewed by Vine Street Brewing. After the presentation, there will be an opportunity to tour Vine Street Brewing and learn more about how the beer is brewed onsite. Attendees must be 21 years or older, and provide a valid ID at the time of the event.

Matt Wegerer

Matt Wegerer is owner and creative director of Whiskey Design — a design group that specializes in crafting unrivaled creative for unmistakable brands. Whiskey’s client roster has included Boulevardia, GivePet Dog Treats, Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, MAPP Aerospace, Parade of Hearts, Restless Spirits Distilling and Vine Street Brewing. His work has been featured in PRINT, Communication Arts, HOW, Dieline and has won numerous National Gold ADDY awards. When not working, you will find Matt chasing his two young children or annoying people with quotes from Top Gun.

Kemet Coleman

Meet Kemet Coleman, one of the founders of Vine Street Brewing Co. As the Director of Marketing and Experiences, Kemet brings a unique perspective to the team with his background as a well-known Kansas City-based rap artist, known for his danceable hits like "Get Out: The Streetcar Song" and collaborative efforts in urban spaces. His passion for craft beer began in 2013 as a tour guide at Boulevard Brewing Co. in their guest relations department. At Vine Street, Kemet plays an integral role in strategy, business development, and customer experience, striving to make the brewery a pillar of the Kansas City community and a platform for creativity and culture.

Woodie Bonds Jr.

Meet Woodie Bonds Jr., co-founder and co-head brewer of Vine Street Brewing Co. Woodie is a true visionary in the craft beer industry with a background in home and commercial brewing. He is the founder of Kansas City's first hip-hop beer festival, which brought together home brewers and commercial brewers to showcase their unique and exciting brews. Woodie met Elliott Ivory at a beer festival, and the two have been brewing together ever since. Before joining Vine Street, Woodie worked for Ford Motor Company for 20 years and continues to do so. His love for craft beer started when he took a bet with a co-worker and tried craft beer, which ultimately started his journey as a home brewer over a decade ago. Woodie's known for his sharp sense of humor, innovative beers and love for hip-hop. He brings his expertise and skills to Vine Street, creating unique and exciting brews for customers to enjoy.

Elliott Ivory

Elliott Ivory is a co-founder and head brewer at Vine Street Brewing Co. Before joining the Vine Street team, he worked as an engineer at Honeywell and has been home brewing for several years under the name Wiz Brewing. He is an avid runner, and his focus on consistency is evident in his brewing, particularly his crisp and easy-drinking brews. He met Woodie Bond's at a micro beer festival in Kansas City and met Kemet Coleman through Woodie. He is known for his love for traditional-style beers and for participating in various runs in Kansas City. As a brewer, he is also excited to expand the beer industry to include more African Americans.
