Made in Manhattan

K-State Student Showcase

The Department of Interior Architecture & Industrial Design (IAID) at Kansas State University presents Made in Manhattan, an exhibition of the best recent work and initiatives to emerge from the IAID programs and bring the next generation of ideas to Kansas City Design Week. IAID is a multi-disciplinary department that offers a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, a master's degree in Interior Architecture, a master’s degree in Industrial Design, and a Graduate Furniture Design Certificate. Our innovative curricula prepare students to become professional leaders in their industry through a design process grounded in thinking, designing, human-centered design, and making, positioning them to shape the places we live and work and the products we use every day. The exhibit, hosted at the Town Pavilion at 1111 Main St., highlights projects from each of the four core aspects of our curriculum: Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Furniture Design, and Industrial Design. Projects from across year levels of the program showcase the depth and breadth of 2D and 3D student work recently Made in Manhattan. An opening event on Friday, April 24th, will anchor this exhibition. The opening from 5:00 – 8:00 PM will serve as a forum to engage the Kansas City design industry, alumni, and the academy in dialogues about design across scales and disciplines that build and strengthen connections to the broader design community. At 4:00 PM, we’ll host a reception and presentation on the Seaton Hall Central renovation. Hollis + Miller and Allied Works will share the vision and progress for transforming the first and lower floors into dynamic, future-focused learning spaces for APDesign—please join us to learn more!
